Product Description

Matcha is a premium, finely ground powder made from shade-grown green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) that are cultivated without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. Because matcha involves consuming the whole leaf, the organic label ensures you aren't ingesting residual agricultural chemicals Refined and lingering, this matcha is crafted for traditional preparation and mindful daily rituals

Product Details:

Like traditional matcha, organic matcha undergoes a labor-intensive process. About 20 to 30 days before harvest, the tea bushes are shaded from direct sunlight. This process slows plant growth and forces the leaves to produce higher levels of chlorophyll (giving the powder its vibrant green color) and amino acids like L-theanine. After harvesting, the youngest leaves are steamed, dried, destemmed, and stone-ground into a fine powder.

Product Information: Organic vs. Conventional Matcha

  • Flavor Profile: Conventional matcha often achieves a highly concentrated, savory (umami) flavor due to the use of highly specialized, nitrogen-rich fertilizers. Organic matcha is limited to natural or organic fertilizers, which can sometimes result in a slightly more earthy, grassy, or subtly bitter flavor.
  • Farming Practices: Choosing organic matcha promotes sustainable agriculture, supporting soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation
  • Certification: To be legally labeled as organic, the tea must pass strict certifications (such as USDA Organic in the US or JAS in Japan), ensuring both the farm and its surrounding environment are free from chemicals

Important Information: Grades of Matcha

Matcha is generally sold in three main grades, which determine how it should be used:
  • Ceremonial Grade: The highest quality. Made from the youngest, most tender leaves, it has a naturally smooth and sweet taste. It is designed to be whisked simply with hot water and drunk on its own.
  • Premium Grade: A versatile, everyday drinking matcha that balances high quality with a slightly bolder flavor, making it great for both hot tea and matcha lattes.
  • Culinary (Cooking) Grade: Made from older, lower-harvest leaves with a more robust, slightly astringent flavor. It is specifically blended to pair well with milk, sweeteners, and baking ingredients (e.g., in smoothies, ice cream, or pastries).
